Books for school!

So I'm still in college, I'm currently a Junior at San Diego State University. Anyway I've been getting by most of my time here without buying books. I usually get them from friends or I just wing it and hope going to lecture is enough. But not today. Today was the day when I REALLY needed to have read the book. I had to do a presentation based on a question out of the book......and well needless to say I was speechless. Literally lost with no frame of reference at all. So I winged it. Let's just say that my grade for my presentation isn't soaring high right now, as a matter of fact it tried to lift off and fell off a cliff instead. So I guess I learned my lesson the hard way, sometimes you gotta buy those damned books.

  1. I generally buy all the books for class, but get the cheapest one I can find, even if that means it is several editions too old, and it got left in the rain. One class the teacher actually went around class and made people hold up the book or they were dropped, I held up my neighbors book.

  2. it wouldn't be an issue of they were priced like regular books instead of like gas on an abandoned highway.

  3. When I was at university, my professors would put 3-5 copies of the text on reserve at the library for students to use. When the books were too expensive, I'd just head over to the library and read for a bit.

  5. Try asking around for used books, post a note on your college's BBS or something. Used are infinitely better than new, mostly because people write notes in the margins so you can get protips from people who had the course before you.
